Best Blog Post Award

Here at FemAcadem we read a lot of blogs.  And we read the news. So, we have decided to institue a weekly ‘Best Blog Post Award’ where we will give kudos to the best blog posts we have read that week.

This weeks winner is msruthmoss over at Mothers For Womens Lib for a post about being pro choice and the complexities that this can bring:

“However, once you identify as “pro choice” you have some uneasy decisions to make. Are you pro-choice all the time? Are you, for example, pro-choice whe it comes to women aborting only female foetuses? Are you pro-choice when it comes to abortion for foetuses where the resulting child could have a disability?”

Our runners up this week are Abby O’Reilly over at The F Word for writing a thought provoking post about the political implications of ‘giving head’ and Louise Livesey, also of The F word for her post about the upcoming London Olympics and the increase in trafficked prostitutes this could cause.

Introducing……

*drumroll please*

I’m very pleased to be able to introduce Andie, my new co- writer and good friend. Andie and I attend the same college, doing the same course, but we have massively different opinions! Andie is passionately interested in civil liberties, human rights, freedom of information and the open source movement. I could go on all night about what a brilliant person she is, but I’ll let her tell you herself!

I should also mention that Andie, has today won an award for being the woman student who has contributed the most to college life. As last years SU President, she massively improved life for students at our college and radically overhauled communication between the student body and the college administration. She’s an all round fab person, and I really look forward to writing with her.
